MIDWAY - TURNING OF THE TIDE

This stunning aviation panorama vividly brings to life the minutes just prior to the Battle of Midway, the decisive battle that wrote the name of the SBD Dauntless dive-bomber into military history.

The date was 4 June 1942; the time was 10.10 hours; and the place was 20,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean, 200 miles north-west of Midway Island. It was the calm before the storm, a battle was on it's way.

This truly great collector’s piece features a detailed DOUBLE REMARQUE of an SBD Dauntless and carries the signatures of FOUR  outstanding Dauntless pilots who flew in that historic Midway attack:

  • Cdr DON ELY
  • RADM WILBUR ROBERTS
  • Flt Lt EDWARD H. ANDERSON
  • Lt Cdr DICK BEST

THE DAMBUSTERS

The first and original Dambuster release from Robert! It famously depicts Mick Martin releasing his bouncing bomb and heading through the defensive curtain of gunfire provided by the German forces.

Guy Gibson's aircraft is flying directly in front of Martin's in an effort to distract the flak, in spite of this Martin collected a shell right through a starboard wing tank, but his bomb scored another direct hit. Gibson and Martin then flew in with each of the two successive attacks either distracting the defences or attempting to suppress them with fire from their own air gunners. The cumulative effect of the fourth direct hit breached the Dam and 150,000,000 gallons flooded the Ruhr valley washing away factories, railway bridges, electric pylons, but above all greatly reducing water supplies so necessary to the armament industrial processes.

This unique Double Remarque shows a specially-adapted Lancaster with bouncing-bomb clearly visible and has been personally signed by the famous Australian Dambuster depicted:

  • Air Mshl SIR HAROLD 'MICK' MARTIN KCB CB DSO* DFC* AFC

KNIGHT OF THE REICH

On the morning of 15 October 1943, as Bf109G's from III./JG52 dive into attack a group of Russian fighters high over Zaporozhye in south-east Ukraine, their Kommandeur Hauptmann Günther Rall pounces on a Soviet La-5 to claim his 222nd victory.

During this astonishing one month period Rall shot down 40 aircraft and at the end of November 1943 achieved 250 victories - at the time only the second Ace to do so after Walter Nowotny. By the time he was posted back to the West, he was well on the way to his final score of 275 victories, making him the third highest-scoring Ace in history. Had he not been wounded in action numerous times and forced to spend months in hospital, he might well have been the highest-scoring Ace of them all.

This FIVE signature Eastern Front Edition Remarque shows Günther's Bf109 in flight and has been autographed by the famous Ace depicted along with four highly distinguished Aces who all flew on the Eastern Front:

  • Generalleutnant GÜNTHER RALL KC with Oak Leaves & Swords
  • Leutnant HUGO BROCH KC
  • Major ERICH RUDORFFER KC with Oak Leaves & Swords
  • Hauptmann KARL-FRITZ SCHLOSSSTEIN GCiG
  • Oberleutnant WALTER SCHUCK KC with Oak Leaves

THE LONG SHORT DAYS

Robert’s stunning piece captures a group of Bf109Gs from III./JG26, as they return to base after a long range fighter sweep along the Channel coast in early 1944.
