Fought during the summer of 1940, the Battle of Britain changed the course of WWII as the RAF, although impossibly outnumbered, repelled the might of Hitler’s war machine.

Here are just a few prints depicting these historic air battles during September 1940, each painstakingly researched and autographed by veterans who took part!

HURRICANE FORCE

Limited Edition by Robert Taylor

15 September 1940; the day the Luftwaffe made its final, massive effort to defeat the RAF and pave the way for Hitler’s invasion of England. It was the climax of the tremendous air battles between the RAF and the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain and the day Churchill was told: ‘There are no reserves!’

Robert’s famous piece puts us right into the heart of the action some 12,000 feet over London as Hurricanes tear into a mass of Luftwaffe He111 Bombers and escorting Bf109s. The brute force of the Hurricane is seen at its best, wreaking havoc amongst the formations of enemy raiders.

Originally released in 1990 for the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, we rarely come across copies of this superb piece on the Secondary Market but are delighted to have ONE copy in stock. Find out more HERE!

DECISIVE BLOW

Artist Proof by Anthony Saunders

During the final days of the battle Pilot Officer Geoffrey Wellum from 92 Sqn based at Biggin Hill, banks his Spitfire after scoring a direct hit on a Ju88 bomber from KG77 over the Medway Estuary, on a day of heavy Luftwaffe raids against London, 27 September 1940.

For weeks since the early days of September, London had been the main target for the Luftwaffe and on 27th September, 80 days after the battle officially begun, they came in force. Far from being on the brink of collapse RAF Fighter Command, though vastly outnumbered, had shown an incredible resilience and today was no different with more than 50 German aircraft destroyed.

This FIVE signature print was signed on release in 2016 by some of the last surviving aircrew to take part in the battle including the famous pilot depicted:
