The Sting of the Black Tulip was the first in Robert Taylor’s immortal ‘Hartmann Trilogy’,portraying events on 7th August 1943 when Erich Hartmann, the world’s highest scoring Ace, claimed seven victories in a day.

It is astonishing to recollect that Erich Hartmann – nicknamed The Black Tulip by the Russians on account of the black tulip icon on the nose of his Bf109 – was one of the many famous signatories who featured on that original paper limited edition print, now extremely sought after on the secondary market. Thanks to the Giclée process, however, collectors can complement those high-value signed prints, and enhance their portfolios, with the release of the Studio Proof.

Photograph & Original Hartmann Signature

Each Giclée Studio Proof of Sting of the Black Tulip is issued with a copy of a classic photograph of Erich Hartmann which has been conservation matted to include the rare and highly collectible ORIGINAL signature of Erich Hartmann, and a museum qiality reproduction Luftwaffe Fighter Pilot’s clasp.
