MONET'S MOON - GICLÉE CANVAS
by Alan Bean
This Giclée by Alan Bean recalls the time when he first began studying the Moon, many years ago. After being thrust out of lunar orbit with Pete Conrad and Dick Gordon, Bean saw the Moon up close and was immediately struck by its appearance. With the Moon resembling a flat disk surrounded by the vast emptiness of space, he chose to interpret the scene through the eyes of Claude Monet, famed for his innovative use of light and colour to capture the essence of nature. In this piece, Bean depicts the Moon as purple, adding a distinctively artistic feel to the painting.
