The Doolittle Tokyo Raids

The daylight raid on Tokyo, led by Lt Col 'Jimmy' Doolittle on 18 April 942, has rightfully entered the history books as one of the most daring and courageous operations of WWII. To commemorate the famous 'Doolittle Tokyo Raids', we're proud to feature these two unique pieces - both are IN STOCK and ready for immediate collection or worldwide shipping:

COMPASS HEADING 270°

by Robert Taylor including ORIGINAL artwork by Richard Taylor

As the USS Hornet pitches and rolls in the mid-Pacific Swell, the Tokyo raid gets under way. Jimmy Doolittle's B-25, safely airborne and having completed a 360 degree turn, flies over the carrier to check his compass while the number two aircraft rolls down the deck under full throttle.

This highly-prized print is signed in pencil by twelve veterans who took part in the raid, all of whom have sadly since passed away. If that wasn't already special enough, this superb collector's piece also includes:

  • a 'Deluxe' Remarque by Richard Taylor across the bottom border of the print showing the B-25s on route to Tokyo
  • a museum-quality reproduction pin of the Raider Emblem
  • an original pencil portrait of Jimmy Doolittle by Richard Taylor included in the matting

DESTINATION TOKYO

Original Oil on Canvas by Anthony Saunders

Under stormy skies and mounting seas, Jimmy Doolittle lifts his B-25 Mitchell off the pitching deck of the USS Hornet whilst the crews of the remaining fifteen aircraft wait to take off behind him. Having timed his launch to perfection he will adjust his compass bearing and lead the mission to Tokyo.

Anthony's inspirational painting was specially commissioned in 2017 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the raid and until recently has proudly hung in a private collection.

We're delighted that this stunning painting is NOW AVAILABLE and with the canvas measuring an impressive 36" wide x 24" high (40" x 28" including the frame) it would make a perfect centrepiece to any collection!
