GATHERING STORM

Equipped with new Fw190s, the notorious fighter interceptors of JG-2 achieved startling success against the still inexperienced USAAF B-17 crews that regularly visited occupied ports on the west coast of France in 1943. The Fw190 quickly established a fearsome reputation and became the mainstay of the German defence.

Robert's spectacular painting highlights the elegant lethality that exuded from the Fw190, as a group of A-3 and A-4s climb out over Theville to intercept an in-coming armada of B-17 Fortresses en-route to bomb the submarine pens at Lorient.

Published in 1990 and considered by many as one of the defining images of the Fw190, this classic piece is personally hand-signed by four distinguished Focke-Wulf 190 Aces, having between them almost 2500 combat missions and no fewer than 393 aerial victories.

HARTMANN TRIBUTE

Robert had the unique opportunity to actually listen to the great aviators who fought in the bitter air battles of WWII, and one such story formed the basis of this famous piece depicting Erich Hartmann – history’s highest scoring Ace whose record in aerial combat is never likely to be equalled.

Hartmann is depicted in his Me109G-4 in the spring of 1943 during the Kuban battle in Southern Russia after Russian Sturmoviks have made a determined attack on a German Panzer division.

Luftwaffe Me109s from JG-52 have beaten off the attack, and the German tanks are on the move again. In the foreground, the crew of a Russian Sturmovik evacuate their stricken aircraft, while overhead a jubilant Hartmann and parts of his unit make a low pass to celebrate their victory.

It is hardly surprising that the edition sold out almost immediately on release in 1994 but we’re delighted to have ONE copy only. Adding great authenticity, this famous print is hand-signed by the legendary Ace depicted:

  • Oberst ERICH HARTMANN KC w/ Oak Leaves, Swords & Diamonds

KNIGHT OF THE REICH

On the morning of 15 October 1943, as Bf109G's from III./JG52 dive into attack a group of Russian fighters high over Zaporozhye in south-east Ukraine, their Kommandeur Hauptmann Günther Rall pounces on a Soviet La-5 to claim his 222nd victory.

During this astonishing one month period Rall shot down 40 aircraft and at the end of November 1943 achieved 250 victories – at the time only the second Ace to do so after Walter Nowotny. By the time he was posted back to the West, he was well on the way to his final score of 275 victories, making him the third highest-scoring Ace in history.

Published in 2014, this remarkable print serves as a lasting tribute to one of the most legendary figures in Aviation history. It is of great historical significance that Günther Rall who, through his outstanding skill, decency and leadership, gained huge respect from his comrades and former foes alike, personally autographed the edition creating an exceptional collectors piece.

Joining Günther, this FIVE signature Eastern Front Edition is also signed by four highly-distinguished Aces who flew on the Eastern Front. The full list of signatures reads:

  • Generalleutnant GÜNTHER RALL KC w/ Oak Leaves & Swords
  • Leutnant HUGO BROCH KC
  • Major ERICH RUDORFFER KC w/ Oak Leaves & Swords
  • Hauptmann KARL-FRITZ SCHLOSSSTEIN GCiG
  • Oberleutnant WALTER SCHUCK KC w/ Oak Leaves

SWANSONG

By the time Günther Rall led the Fw190s of JG-300 on their last combat mission of WWII he had established himself as perhaps the most remarkable of all fighter pilots

He flew against the top Aces of the RAF in the early part of the war and did battle with aggressive fighter pilots of the USAAF after D-Day in the defence of Germany. In spite of a long period of immobility in 1941/42 after crash-landing and breaking his back, he still recorded a total of 275 aerial victories, the third highest number in the history of air combat.

Robert’s memorable piece depicts Günther high over Germany as the last morning of combat breaks, and the final dramas of the great air war played out. His Fw190 pilots are about to duel with the USAAF for one last time.

This stunning print with a magnificently painted cloudscape was published in 1988 and we’re rarely able to offer copies on the Secondary Market. Adding great authenticity, it has been signed by the legendary Ace depicted:

  • Generalleutnant GÜNTHER RALL KC w/ Oak Leaves & Swords
