On this day in history...
In the early hours of 17th May 1943 specially modified Lancasters of 617 Squadron began their attacks on the great dams of the Ruhr valley.

With Wing Commander Guy Gibson drawing fire to his starboard side, Squadron Leader 'Dinghy' Young, flying Lancaster AJ-A, completes his attack on the Möhne Dam.
Anthony's superbly recreates the scene at ‘Target X’ – the codename originally given to the Möhne dam.
