In the Company of Heroes

A Matt Hall classic...

5 November 2020

This evocative piece captures the moment veterans of the Battle of the Bulge pay their respects to close friends and lost members of the US 101st Airborne Division. At the same time they sense the presence of the ghosts of their fallen comrades.

The men later agreed that their time at the cemetery in Luxembourg was one of their most emotional moments since leaving Europe after the war in 1945.

Our expert team have framed it beautifully to include replica 82nd and 101st Airborne badges as a lasting tribute to the US paratroopers who fought bravely to liberate Europe.

“I treasure my remark to a grandson who asked, "Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?"
"No", I answered, "But I served in a company of heroes".”
