On the night of 30 / 31 May 1942 RAF Bomber Command, mustering every available aircraft that it could, conducted the first ‘one thousand bomber’ raid in history. The target was Cologne.

Internationally celebrated for his exceptional drawing skills, artist Richard Taylor has provided us with OPERATION MILLENNIUM, a stunning new piece depicting the composite make-up of aircraft types participating in that historic raid.

Adding great authenticity, our expert framing team have included in the matting museum-quality reproduction RAF Wings and the original pencil autographs of SEVEN highly-regarded veterans who served with RAF Bomber Command during the war, representing each of the aircraft types that took part (Wellington, Lancaster, Halifax, Manchester, Hampden, Stirling, Whitley):

  • Flight Lieutenant Douglas Newham CVO, DFC
  • Flight Lieutenant Jim Bell DFC
  • Warrant Officer Rex Statham
  • Wing Commander Ernest Rodley DSO DFC AFC AE
  • Group Captain Drane Lowe CBE, DFC, AFC
  • Group Captain William Farquharson DFC
  • Warrant Officer Peter Donaldson
