Pete Conrad, Dick Gordon and Alan Bean were assigned as the backup crew for Apollo 9. This was super news because this meant they would fly three subsequent missions and make one of the first Moon landings.

For the mission, Dick was assigned the role of staying back in the command module 60 Miles away from the moon as it wasn't designed to land, merely to demonstrate its capabilities of the Lunar Module. However Bean and Conrad always wished that Dick would be able to join them for all the fun. This piece shows Bean and Conrad's fantasy of being with their fellow astronaut Dick accompanying them on the moon.

This print is a Limited Edition of the original painting that has been signed by not only the astronaut and artist Alan Bean but also two of his colleagues: Conrad and Gordon.
