WOUNDED WARRIOR

Returning from an arduous mission to Munich, battle-scarred B-17 'Silver Meteor' has been saturated with heavy flak, leaving the port engine out and smoking badly. As the rest of the 390th Bomb Group head back to base at Framlingham, 'Silver Meteor' is steadily dropping behind the fast-disappearing bomber stream and things are about to get worse as Luftwaffe fighters circle like sharks, closing in for an easy kill.
Luckily the enemy fighters weren’t the only ones who’d spotted the ailing Fortress. Two of the foremost Aces in the US 8th AF – Bud Anderson and Kit Carson – had also seen the danger and came tearing out of the blue sky ready for a fight.
Within minutes the stunned German pilots had fled and the crew of 'Silver Meteor' could breathe a sigh of relief. With these two P-51 Mustang Aces sticking close to guide them home, pilot Harry Seip and his crew would survive to fight another day.
