On the 28th of July 1935, the first B-17 'Flying Fortress' took flight for the first time, little did people know at the time that this aircraft would become the most successful bomber throughout WWII.

CLEARING SKIES

Triple Remarque by Robert Taylor

After a brief respite in the freezing weather and with the recent snow beginning to thaw, the B-17 Fortresses of the 100th Bomb Group at Thorpe Abbotts, Norfolk prepare to carry out the Eighth Air Force’s latest mission to Germany, during the harsh winter of early 1945.

Personally signed by ELEVEN veterans who flew with the 100th BG, this unique copy also features a spectacular original pencil remarque in the lower border of B-17s on a bombing run over their target.

COMBAT OVER THE REICH

Presentation Copy by Robert Taylor

Approaching their target at the oil refinery at Zwickau, 60 miles south west of Dresden, the 452nd Bomb Group's B-17 Fortresses were bounced by 28 Me262 jets from JG7.

Robert's superb print, featuring FIVE Luftwaffe Ace signatures was originally released in 2000 and is extremely difficult to find on the secondary market, fortunately we have ONE copy available!

A damaged B-17 Flying Fortress, down on power and speed, has lost touch with the formation and is alone in a hostile sky - easy prey for the enemy fighter. With crew members injured and unable to bale out, the skipper has elected to stay with his ship in an effort to bring his crew home.

BACK FROM BERLIN

Whilst the rest of the force had been recalled due to bad weather, two squadrons from the 95th BG, one from the 100th BG and a pathfinder from the 482nd BG pressed on towards Berlin. With their P-51 Mustang escorts from the 4th FG and 357th FG, the small American force successfully released their bombs on target despite the large presence of Luftwaffe fighters over the German capital.

A WELCOME RETURN

As the late summer sun starts to set over the peaceful English countryside, the relieved, but weary, crew of ’Ol Gappy’ of the 379th Bomb Group, nurse their battle scarred B-17G back to their base at Kimbolton. Close behind them, the remainder of the group, relieved to see familiar territory, make their final approaches after a gruelling mission to Meresburg on 11 September 1944.
