MOSQUITO STRIKE

Central to the drama in Robert’s latest piece are the Mosquito Mk.V fighter-bombers of 418 (City of Edmonton) Squadron RCAF. Flying at low-level and led by their commanding officer, Russ Bannock, the three-ship mission pounces unannounced on a Luftwaffe fighter airfield in the heart of the Netherlands. Raking the ground with both cannon and machine gun fire, they score direct hits on the hangars with their 500lb bombs. Taken by surprise, the defensive flak guns have left it too late to deter the attackers who, job done, swiftly depart the scene and head for home.

Matted and framed to full conservation standards, our expert team have included in the mount:

  • an original piece of Madapolam fabric which was used to cover Mosquitos during the war
  • museum quality reproduction sweetheart brevet and Victoria Cross
  • a fully-authenticated original autograph of one of the most famous Mosquito pilots of WWII and recipient of the Victoria Cross; Group Captain LEONARD CHESHIRE VC OM DSO** DFC* (pictured)

It’s not often that we’re able to offer Robert’s original work so we’re sure it won’t be around for long – contact us TODAY to find out more or to secure this totally unique piece!
