FINAL ROSTER

As the golden hues of the evening sun surrender to the coming night, men of the 505th PIR, 82nd Airborne Division prepare to board the C-47s of the 43rd TCS that will carry them to Normandy in the early hours of 6 June 1944.

Having been returned to artist Anthony Saunders, this completely unique copy now boasts a specially drawn double-remarque in the lower border.

 

 

It has also been personally signed by TWO veterans who took part in operations on D-Day:

  • Staff Sgt EDWARD TUNISON - Radio Operator on C-47s that dropped US paratroopers into France on D-Day
  • Capt DEAN MCCANDLESS - Jumped into France on D-Day with the 505th PIR, 82nd Airborne Division depicted in Anthony's painting

If this wasn't already special enough, our expert framing team have included an 82nd Airborne pin and a fragment of wartime parachute used by US Airborne Divisions in Normandy.

EVE OF DESTINY - THE MASTERWORK DRAWING

Paratroopers of the US 101st Airborne Division prepare to board Douglas C-47s on the eve of D-Day. Shortly after 22.00hrs they will set course for Normandy and, after crossing the French coast under heavy AA fire, drop behind Utah Beach to seize key objectives just hours before the largest seaborne invasion in history.

This memorable piece has been personally signed and authenticated by THREE paratroopers who jumped on D-Day with the 506th PIR, 101st Airborne: 

  • Sgt BILL TRUE - Fox Co
  • PFC SAL PEREZ - Service Co
  • PFC ART PETERSEN - Fox Co

As a lasting tribute to all those who served on that fateful night, this special copy has been returned to artist Richard Taylor to complete a unique triple-remarque in the border.

 The men of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR – the famous ‘Band of Brothers’ – carefully take inventory of their equipment during the evening of 5 June 1944.
