Fire Fighters of the Auxiliary Fire Service, (later the National Fire Service), bravely tackle another blaze in the City of London during The Blitz in 1940-41, watched over by the stoic St Paul’s Cathedral.

Richard Taylor honours the Fire Fighters of the Auxiliary Fire Service who bravely served throughout the London Blitz, which commenced with the first targeted raid taking place on 7 September 1940, lasting for 8 months, finally finishing on 11 May 1941.

The Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) was formed in 1938 as part of the Civil Defence Service being superseded in August 1941 by the National Fire Service (NFS), which itself existed until 1948, when it was again split by the Fire Services Act in 1947 with fire services reverting to local authority control.

We are pleased to be able to offer you two versions of this matted tribute print containing either an ORIGINAL Auxiliary Fire Service or National Fire Service cap badge.
