Steve Noon

Steve Noon is an award-winning illustrator with more than thirty years’ experience, renowned for his highly detailed paintings of historical and military subjects.

Born in Kent and raised in St Ives, Cornwall, Steve developed a passion for drawing and painting from an early age, inspired by cinema and the work of the great book illustrators of the 1970s and 80s. He studied Technical Illustration at art college, graduating in 1985, and went on to establish a successful career producing artwork for publishers, advertising campaigns, packaging, stamps, greetings cards and other international clients.

Steve’s lifelong interest in history and meticulous attention to detail have become defining elements of his work. His illustration career includes the critically acclaimed A Street Through Time for Dorling Kindersley, as well as The Bible in Its Time and A Child Through Time. His work on children’s books has earned several major international illustration awards and nominations.

For more than twenty years, Steve has also worked extensively with renowned military publisher Osprey Publishing, producing paintings for more than fifty titles covering a wide range of historical subjects. His detailed understanding of military equipment and historical environments has also led to a longstanding relationship with Warlord Games, for whom he has illustrated numerous World War II armoured vehicle box artworks.

Steve’s military paintings are now held by collectors around the world, alongside a growing body of private commissions. He continues to develop his own work, with a particular interest in bringing lesser-known stories and subjects from military history to life through carefully researched and detailed artwork.
