MOSQUITO AIRCREW SIGNING EVENT – 24th JANUARY

The versatile ‘Wooden Wonder’ was used by the RAF for many different roles throughout WWII including low, medium and high altitude tactical bombing, as well as on night fighter and pathfinder duties.

It is with great pleasure that we announce an amazing signing event at our UK Gallery where we will be joined by a number of aircrew who all flew the de Havilland Mosquito during this period.

Flight Lieutenant GEORGE DUNN DFC MiD – as a Pilot he originally flew Halifax's with 76 Sqn before transferring to fly Mosquitoes with 608 Sqn, part of No 8 (Pathfinder) Groups Light Night Striking Force. He finished the war with 1409 Met Flight having completed 44 Ops.

Warrant Officer RICHARD "DICK" MAYWOOD - completing his training in America, he qualified on Flying Boats with the US Navy. Returning to England he converted to Mosquitos becoming a Navigator with the Light Night Striking Force with 692 Sqn and then 608 Sqn Pathfinder Force.

Flight Lieutenant GEORGE PRICHARD – joined the RAF in 1943 on a direct entry commission and was posted to 151 Nightfighter Sqn on Mosquitos, seeing action through to the D-Day campaign. He then moved to ‘Tiger Force’ (Long range Bomber Force) and post war as a Radar Officer in 4 Group.

Flight Lieutenant DES CURTIS DFC – a Navigator with 618 Sqn, formed with the intention to attack the Tirpitz using a Barnes Wallis designed "Highball" bomb, he then moved to 248 Sqn, part of the famous Banff Strike Wing, flying Mosquitos from Scotland to attack shipping convoys and the Scandinavian coast.
