TOUCH DOWN - Original Pencil Drawing
The Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center is one of the longest runways in the world, at 4,572 m (15,000 ft), and is 91.4 meters (300 ft) wide.
The final landing of a Space Shuttle occurred on July 21, 2011 by the Atlantis before then being retired after nearly three decades of service. On Nov. 8, 2018, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a ‘Launch Site Operator License’ to Space Florida to continue operations at the SLF. The license will allow use of the facility by multiple horizontal launch and landing customers such as SpaceX, Blue Origin and Moon Express.
This wonderfully detailed drawing serves as a lasting tribute to this incredible development in technology and has been framed to full conservation standards.
