THE CONDOR LEGION - Original Pencil Drawing
Prior to the outbreak of WWII, Adolf Galland flew with the Cóndor Legion in Spain and after a few months was given command of the Legion’s third fighter squadron – nicknamed the ‘Mickey Mouse’ squadron after its emblem. Equipped with the ageing Heinkel He-51 bi-planes, he logged more than 300 missions during his ten-month stint in Spain before relinquishing command of his unit to another pilot who would become notable during WWII, Werner Mölders.
Robert’s detailed drawing depicts Galland on one such occasion as his unit head out for another support mission.
Rarely are we able to offer Robert original work for sale so we’re delighted to have this in stock and we're sure it won't be around. To make it even more special, we’re also including a copy of the biographical book ‘Dolfo’ within which the drawing features!
Framed to full conservation standards to include an original autograph and photo of the famous leader depicted:
- Generalleutnant Adolf Galland KC with Oak Leaves Swords and Diamonds
