'Gabby' Gabreski taxis his P-47 Thunderbolt at RAF Boxted ready for the day’s operations, May 1944.

Colonel ‘Gabby’ Gabreski was the leading USAAF fighter ace in Europe during WWII. He was instrumental in the success of the famous 56th Fighter Group led by ‘Hub’ Zemke and his total of 28 aerial victories was unsurpassed by any US pilot fighting the Luftwaffe. He later became a jet ace during the Korean War, finishing his career with 34 ½ aerial victories.

An outstanding original drawing and book portfolio paying tribute to this legendary fighter Ace.

Accompanying the original drawing is a copy of the book ‘Gabby – A Fighter Pilot’s Life’ which is personally autographed by the legendary leader himself plus two pilots who flew in the 56th Fighter Group:

  • Colonel Francis 'Gabby' Gabreski
  • Captain FRANK McCAULEY
  • Lieutenant WILLIAM HARTSHORN
