Air Combat Paintings Volume IV - With Original Pencil Drawing
by Robert Taylor
In the history of air warfare few missions come close in terms of courage and the highest skills of precision flying to the one carried out by 617 Squadron on the night of 16/17 May 1943. Robert's detailed piece captures the moment during Operation Chastise that Barnes Wallis' radical new 'bouncing bomb' is sent spinning towards the dam wall. In a few moments a huge explosion will erupt up in to the night sky as the hydrostatic bomb detonates against the mighty granite walls.
We rarely come across copies of Robert's Air Combat Paintings Volume IV book, so to make it completely unique we returned it to his studio to handcraft this superb drawing.
Making it even more special, we've also included an exclusive bookplate signed for posterity by TWO famous Dambuster veterans:
- Squadron Leader George Johnson MBE DFM
- Sergeant Ray Grayston
