BOMBER COMMAND SIGNING EVENT – 9th OCTOBER
As a tribute to the brave young men who served with RAF Bomber Command during WWII, we are delighted to be hosting some fascinating pilots and aircrew at the UK Gallery.

Our guests include:
Warrant Officer FRANK TOLLEY - as a Bomb Aimer on Lancasters with 625 Sqn he completed a full tour of Ops’ throughout 1944/1945. These included raids on Dresden and Operation Manna which saw food relief dropped into un-liberated western parts of the Netherlands.
Flight Lieutenant DENIS EVANS MBE - served as a Pilot on Lancasters with 170 Sqn from RAF Hemswell, he completed 19 Ops’ over Northern Europe. He took part in Operation Manna and later the Berlin Airlift, for which he was awarded an MBE.
Warrant Officer ROY BRIGGS - posted to 576 Sqn at RAF Fiskerton he served as a Wireless Operator on Lancasters. Flying 30 Ops’ his missions included raids on Plauen and Bremen before taking part in Operation Manna. As the war ended he transferred to 156 Pathfinder Sqn.

We are also joined by a special guest:
ELLEN THOMPSON - as a young girl she lived through the war in Rotterdam and was a recipient of Operation Manna - the humanitarian food drops carried out by the RAF at the end of tha war, to help relieve the famine in Nazi occipied Holland. When she recently met Roy Briggs it transpired that she and her family and friends were recipients of the food drops that his crew had undertaken.
